September in NOLA!
September in NOLA!
Even though it is the first of October, what a better way to recap the first full month I've had in NOLA than recapping after the last day of September!
I am from Baton Rouge, so of course I naturally found myself at LSU for my undergrad. The switch from undergrad to the rigorous Pharmacology Master's program at Tulane has been an adjustment. However, the support and kindness of the staff and the wonderful professors that teach the dense content (PHARMWIKI <3) have allowed me to succeed in no other way than I have before. From attending a large state school to attending my small class size at Tulane, I can finally say I am having the best educational experience going into Tulane’s Pharmacology graduate program. The main aspect of Tulane’s Pharmacology program that helped me succeed so far is the vastness of information available. Not only do we have PharmWiki, the Bible of pharmacology, but we have our lecturer’s PowerPoints and notes that coincide with it. One of my main struggles with my undergrad was the lack of viable information that wasn’t a scientific article that I found on Google. It has been a gamechanger for me, and it’s obvious the program and the staff care about their students succeeding, which is entirely vital for me as a first-generation Latina. So far (despite getting a stomach bug that allowed the delay of this post), my experience at NOLA has been one I’m grateful for due to my admittance to one of the best programs at Tulane’s Biomedical Sciences 😉
Furthermore, I am excited to volunteer! My first experience in volunteering since high school was today (Oct. 1st) and it was absolutely heartwarming and something that I didn’t realize I needed to do more often. I am excited to volunteer more and to tell y’all more about it soon!
