Thankful for Tulane
Happy Thanksgiving, but really Happy Indigenous Peoples Remembrance Day! I am entirely grateful for Tulane's Pharmacology program and for the privilege to attend their program. I am also grateful for the ability to volunteer my time and energy to the community. I volunteered again at the Trinity Community Center this November and it was enjoyable like always. I taught how to make fortune tellers and a few children and I were cheerleaders for their flag football game. I tutored the same child that I took a picture with from my last post. I find that I have the patience to teach the children that people otherwise don't have the patience for. In the future, I will volunteer somewhere else but I will still try to find the time to volunteer at the Trinity Community Center. It honestly is a stress-reliever to be able to interact with the children there and they remind me of my own sister that I don't get to see a lot.
There will be a lot more to write next month because I will be volunteering at the LCMC hospitals! Woo! I am very much excited for that. This will be my first time working at a hospital which is so invigorating! It makes me feel closer to my path to medical school. It's going to be busy next month with trying to find a job, starting to study for the MCAT, shadowing a doctor, and volunteering. Jeez. Then I have family visiting from Peru on Christmas. It's gonna be a hectic Christmas. The only thing I have done this break is sleep, sleep, andddd... sleep (and play chess). So I am ready for the busy next month that I have planned for myself.
Again, Happy Indigenous Peoples Remembrance Day!
