April Showers Bring Service Hours

 Hi everyone!

Throughout April, I continued volunteering at the Trinity Community Center, where I tutored children and joined in activities like coloring, talking about Minecraft, and watching them play basketball or flag football as they usually do. Seeing the kids regularly was a highlight of my week. I also volunteered at the Giving Hope Food Pantry where I was packing and organizing food cans. I enjoyed working there because the time went by quickly and we were able to make a lot food boxes, even though it was tiring because the boxes were heavy. I also attended a civic training for Ojos de Unión Migrante where we focused on how we can protect immigrant and neighborhood rights from ICE and police abuse. Thankfully, with fewer class modules this month, I had the time to work on doing my service this month.

April also marks the time where it signals it’s almost time to graduate. Reflecting on my time at Tulane, I’ve sincerely enjoyed how much the program has challenged me and helped me grow - not only academically, but also personally. It was challenging but it changed the way that I think, how I see science, and how I view my future role in medicine. I feel more prepared for what my academic career would be like in the future, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities that Tulane has given me.

April Total: 24 hours
